Portfolio > Small Format Brush Paintings 2
Original, small-scale Chinese brush paintings and Chinese brushwork-based pieces done on rice paper and other substrates. I enjoy using recycled materials and sometimes make use of clean, beautiful mat board and cardstock that was bound for the landfill, in addition to more traditional Chinese and Japanese rice papers.
Though many fine artists bulk at working small-scale, I enjoy the challenge of a confied palette and find that smaller works are often more spontaneous and complete than larger, more drawn-out pieces. I consider them "poems" and larger works "novels." Each has its own purpose, level of intent, and quality of delivery.
