Original prints done in a variety of traditional and contemporary printmaking mediums, including lithography, relief, intaglio, and serigraphy.
Chinese Brush Paintings
Chinese brush painting has been practiced for thousands of years and focuses on a mastery of water and balance, rather than the properties of paint. In an attempt to capture the qi (or essence / spirit) of the subject, the painter moves with quick, decisive movements that must be methodical, yet spontaneous. Priority is given to a lively composition that's full of energy, over realism and detail. Each stroke is laid down on rice paper once–quickly, confidently. You cannot go back and forth over the same spot to correct a mistake. These Meditative works are done with hand-ground pigments and liquid watercolor on various types of rice paper. This gallery contains several sub-galleries of works I've done in a more traditional, foundation style. Studio Photos
